SnagCheck FAQ – New Build Defect Advice
Answers to common questions about new-build defects and how SnagCheck helps you deal with them.
What is SnagCheck?
SnagCheck is a professional assessment service for specific new-build issues.
Instead of a full snagging inspection, we review individual defects and provide clear, structured guidance on whether they should be raised and how they should be rectified.
Is this the same as a snagging inspection?
No.
SnagCheck is designed for homeowners who have identified specific concerns and want a professional opinion before going back to their developer.
It sits between informal advice and a full snagging survey.
What do I receive?
You receive a structured report prepared by a qualified surveyor, including:
- Clear identification of each issue
- Whether it should be raised with the developer
- Practical rectification guidance
- Relevant standards and specification references
Can I send this to my developer?
Yes.
The report is designed to be issued directly to your developer and provides a clear, professional basis for raising and discussing defects.
How many issues can I submit?
You can select a package based on the number of issues you would like reviewed.
Each issue is assessed individually and included within your report.
What information do I need to provide?
You will need to upload clear photos (and optional video) of each issue, along with a brief description.
The more detail you provide, the more precise the assessment will be.
How long does it take?
Reports are typically completed within a few working days, depending on the number of issues submitted.
What if the developer disagrees?
The report provides a professional, standards-based assessment which can be used to support your position.
If required, it may also be used in further correspondence or escalation through warranty providers.
Is this a full inspection of my property?
No.
SnagCheck is based solely on the issues submitted and does not replace a full snagging inspection or survey.
Who prepares the report?
All assessment reports are prepared and signed by a RICS, RPSA and CABE qualified surveyor experienced in new-build construction defects and in accordance with recognised industry standards and professional practice
Still unsure?
If you’re not sure whether something is a defect or just “normal”, submit your issue for a professional assessment and get a clear, independent answer you can rely on.
